Centralized Inventory Software for Omnichannel Retail Fulfillment

Footwear manufacturer Gioseppo and logistics technology provider Mecalux collaborated to modernize order fulfillment using advanced warehouse management software. The implementation standardizes picking tasks and synchronizes inventory data to support omnichannel logistics across both automated and conventional storage environments.

Industry Context and Operational Challenges
Gioseppo, a footwear and fashion accessories manufacturer based in Spain, operates a global distribution network spanning over 80 countries. Historically reliant on multi-brand shoe stores, the company diversified its distribution channels to include corporate retail spaces, franchises, digital outlets, and direct-to-consumer e-commerce platforms. This expansion into digital commerce introduced severe complexities in order routing and inventory synchronization. The primary operational problem involved managing simultaneous picking tasks and fulfilling orders across fragmented wholesale and retail channels without increasing error rates or delaying fulfillment times.

Goals for Logistical Improvement
To support this complex distribution matrix, the manufacturer needed to upgrade its digital infrastructure. The core objective was to centralize inventory visibility and establish error-free picking sequences across its distribution nodes in Elche. The underlying system needed to process high-volume bulk shipments for department stores and single-item direct-to-consumer web orders with uniform speed, ensuring a stabilized workflow for warehouse operators.

Selected Technical Solution and Facility Integration
To resolve these inventory bottlenecks, the company deployed the latest version of Mecalux’s Easy WMS, a comprehensive warehouse management software platform. The system acts as the centralized control layer for two distinct facilities: an automated, self-supporting pallet warehouse with a capacity of 5,844 units, and a dedicated order picking center equipped with shelving capable of accommodating 480,000 boxes. Managing a combined throughput of 1.6 million units of shoes, the software consolidates multi-channel order fulfillment into a single digital interface, overriding previous channel-specific silos.

José Miguel Navarro, Vice President and Co-founder of Gioseppo, explained the operational strategy driving the integration, stating that the objective is to ensure consistent fulfillment service levels regardless of the channel the customer utilizes.

Deployment Process and Operational Impact
A critical requirement for the technology rollout was maintaining continuous facility operation. Mecalux executed the software upgrade and infrastructure migration without interrupting the manufacturer's daily warehouse activities. This phased deployment prevented supply chain disruption and secured the software on an updated server architecture designed to mitigate technological obsolescence while maximizing data security and system availability.

By centralizing logic rules within the warehouse management software, the facility operators process outbound orders consistently regardless of the originating sales channel. The synchronized picking tasks ensure stable workflow distribution across the 1.6 million units of stock, reducing fulfillment errors and reinforcing the backend infrastructure required to sustain expanding omnichannel logistics operations.
