Airport Ground Handling Solutions Headline GSE Expo 2026

Airport operators are under increasing pressure to improve baggage handling and air cargo logistics as passenger traffic and freight volumes continue to recover. At GSE Expo 2026, Linde Material Handling will demonstrate a range of electric vehicles, automated transport systems and fleet management software designed to support airport ground operations with higher efficiency, safety and operational visibility.

Airport logistics solutions for baggage and cargo handling
According to the International Air Transport Association (IATA), global air cargo volumes are expected to increase by approximately 2.6% during 2026, creating additional demand for reliable ground handling equipment. Linde Material Handling will exhibit its airport vehicle portfolio at Booth H25 in the outdoor area of FIL (Feira Internacional de Lisboa), Lisbon, from September 15–17.

The portfolio addresses multiple airport logistics applications, including baggage transport, cargo movement, aircraft servicing and warehouse operations. The company also provides vehicle customization options, maintenance services and battery solutions as part of an integrated support offering.

Automated tow tractors for repetitive transport operations
Among the technologies on display are the automated Linde P120 to P350 electric tow tractors, designed for repetitive transport routes commonly found in airport baggage handling operations.

The vehicles can tow loads of up to 35 tonnes and are intended for predefined transport routes between terminals, baggage sorting facilities and aircraft stands. Integrated navigation and safety technologies support automated operation while reducing manual vehicle movements in standardized transport tasks.

Electric forklift improves visibility in airport operations

Linde Material Handling will also present the Xi-Roadster electric forklift, developed for airport warehouse operations and aircraft-side logistics.

The truck features a cab design without conventional A-pillars, combined with slim mast profiles, a lowered windscreen and an optional panoramic reinforced-glass roof to improve forward and overhead visibility. The integrated lithium-ion battery contributes to a compact vehicle design while supporting payloads of up to 2 tonnes.

The equipment is intended for loading, unloading and warehouse handling tasks where operator visibility and maneuverability are critical for safe operation. The Xi-Roadster received the materialfluss Product of the Year 2026 award in the Industrial Trucks category for its visibility-focused design.

Electric platform truck supports rapid baggage transport
The Linde W20 electric platform truck is designed for transporting baggage and cargo in confined airport environments.

The vehicle offers a payload capacity of up to 2 tonnes, while an alternative version increases payload capacity to 3 tonnes. Both variants provide towing capacities of up to 6 tonnes and feature compact dimensions with a tight turning radius to improve maneuverability around terminals and aircraft.

Digital fleet management for airport logistics
In addition to its vehicle portfolio, Linde Material Handling will demonstrate the myLinde web-based fleet management platform.

The software enables operators to monitor vehicle location, utilization and battery charge status through a centralized dashboard. It also supports battery charging management and provides operational data that can be used to optimize fleet utilization, maintenance planning and safety management across airport logistics operations.

Battery technology and service support
The airport vehicle portfolio can be configured with either lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries, with lithium-ion battery systems and chargers manufactured by Linde Material Handling. The company also provides battery recycling services as part of its lifecycle support strategy.

In addition to equipment supply, Linde Material Handling offers a global service network intended to support maintenance, repairs and fleet availability for airlines, airport operators and ground handling companies.

Additional Context: Technical specifications and competitive benchmarking
Airport ground handling equipment manufacturers including TLD, Textron GSE, MULAG and Goldhofer also offer electric tow tractors, baggage transport vehicles and aircraft support equipment for airport logistics applications. However, Linde Material Handling differentiates its portfolio by combining automated tow tractors, electric forklifts, digital fleet management through myLinde, integrated lithium-ion battery technology and a global service network within a single supplier ecosystem. The showcased automated P120-P350 tow tractors provide towing capacities of up to 35 tonnes, while the Xi-Roadster emphasizes operator visibility through its pillar-free cab design and integrated lithium-ion battery architecture.
