Eckelmann to Showcase Vision Systems for Logistics Depots at LogiMAT 2026

Eckelmann AG, based in Wiesbaden, is presenting its latest camera-based image recognition systems for logistics depots and production facilities at LogiMAT in Stuttgart (Hall 6, Booth 6F72). The solutions focus on automated bulk counting, inspection and tracking of pallets, containers and packaged goods, supporting secure and traceable goods flows in intralogistics.

Automated Counting and Validation in Goods Handling
Manual counting of stacked containers and packaged goods remains time-consuming and error-prone in many logistics environments. Eckelmann’s Vision Products portfolio replaces manual processes with camera-based systems that combine image processing software, classic algorithms and AI modules.

The systems are developed in-house and tailored to customer-specific automation processes. The software can recognize product geometries and customer-specific designs, even under demanding lighting or environmental conditions. AI-supported modules analyze image data, document results and transmit validated data to higher-level IT systems.

At LogiMAT, Eckelmann demonstrates live capture and inspection of reusable and disposable pallets and containers. The image acquisition process can be monitored in real time.

E°CD Series: Counting and Matching at Dock Doors
The E°CD (Counting & Detection) Series is designed for precise image recognition of reusable load carriers and stacked goods. Installed as paired column units with integrated camera technology, the counting gate enables automated mass recording and allocation of palletized products.

Typical applications include counting bags, cartons and containers in sectors such as food processing (fish, meat, baked goods, fruit and vegetables), as well as industrial materials including wood panels, glass sheets and bricks. The system also detects potential defects in pallet stacks.

The compact gate design is dimensioned for standard truck door widths and can be installed at goods receiving or dispatch docks. Its primary function is to validate whether palletized shipments match delivery documentation, reducing discrepancies and manual verification effort.

E°CI Series: 100% Inspection in Automated Lines
The E°CI (Counting & Inspection) Series provides automated quality control in conveyor-based processes. It is used, for example, for pooling systems involving reusable containers and pallets in the food industry.

The system identifies defective, contaminated or foreign containers and can be integrated into existing conveyor technology without interfering with the main control system. It operates at high processing speeds and sends signals to the higher-level conveyor control for actions such as rejection or routing to picking stations.

At LogiMAT, the E°CI 2 system demonstrates live error detection and visualization.

E°CT Series: Tracking and Digital Traceability
The E°CT (Counting & Tracking) Series supports tracking and tracing applications in production and logistics. It captures 1D and 2D codes even on fast-moving objects without gaps between items.

The modular system enables digital documentation for traceability and can display data outside the machine network via Internet or network connection. Remote maintenance is supported.

Integration into Automation and IT Architectures
All Vision Products series are designed for integration into existing automation and IT infrastructures. Communication with ERP systems and document management systems enables paperless documentation and transparent process monitoring.

Key technical features include:
  • High counting and recording accuracy with fast processing times
  • Customizable interfaces and product data structures
  • Multilingual user interfaces with minimal training requirements
  • Modular architecture for adaptation to customer-specific processes
By detecting shortages or incorrect deliveries immediately, the systems reduce resource consumption and unnecessary transport movements.

Vision AI Development Unit
Eckelmann has established a dedicated “Vision AI” unit at its Wiesbaden headquarters focused on AI-supported image processing. The team conducts test runs in a dedicated test center using real customer products to validate automation concepts and reduce commissioning time.

Through the combination of classical image processing and AI-based analysis, the company aims to enhance reliability and scalability in automated logistics and production workflows.
