ITOH DENKI Introduces Multi-Angle Sorting Module

High-throughput sorting lines in parcel logistics, e-commerce distribution and order fulfillment require compact modules capable of handling variable package sizes without pneumatic complexity. At SITL 2026 (March 31–April 2, Hall 7 – Stand M038), ITOH DENKI is presenting the MABS (Multi Angle Ball Sorter), a multidirectional divert module developed for automated sorting applications with transfer rates up to 6,000 items per hour.

Multi-Directional Transfers with Configurable Angles
The MABS module is designed to divert loads both left and right at freely configurable angles, including 30°, 45° and 90°. This flexibility allows integrators to adapt conveyor layouts to spatial constraints and throughput requirements without redesigning entire line sections.

With a rated capacity of up to 6,000 transfers per hour, the system targets high-density intralogistics environments where continuous material flow is critical to maintaining digital supply chain performance.

The module supports parcel dimensions from 100 × 150 mm up to 650 × 700 mm, with a maximum load of 30 kg per module. Multiple MABS units can be combined to extend the transfer zone for larger packages or higher stability requirements.

Anticipatory Motion to Reduce Bottlenecks
Continuous flow is achieved through an anticipatory transfer sequence. Integrated drive wheels adjust in advance to the direction of the incoming parcel, minimizing transition delays at high-traffic junctions. This mechanism reduces the risk of accumulation at merge or divert points, which are common constraints in high-speed sorting systems.

By coordinating directional changes before physical contact with the next load, the system supports smoother handovers between conveyor segments.

24 V DC Operation Without Pneumatics
The MABS operates exclusively on 24 V DC and does not require pneumatic components. This architecture is based on ITOH DENKI’s POWER MOLLER technology, which uses motorized rollers to provide decentralized drive control.

Eliminating compressed air systems reduces installation complexity and ongoing maintenance requirements. The low-voltage configuration also lowers electrical risk and contributes to energy-efficient operation in intralogistics facilities.

Compact Integration in Multi-Level Systems
With an installation height of 175 mm, the module is designed for integration into space-constrained layouts, including overhead or multi-level conveyor systems. Five standard lengths ranging from 398 mm to 798 mm allow adaptation to different conveyor frames.

Protected surfaces and low-noise operation enable safe interaction between operators and equipment in picking and sorting environments.

Application Scope in Sorting and Order Fulfillment
The MABS module is positioned for use in sorting lines, order picking systems and inter-line transfer points where high throughput and layout flexibility are required. By combining multi-angle diversion, compact dimensions and electric-only operation, the system addresses throughput optimization and modular scalability in automated material handling environments.
