Warehouse logistics, retail distribution, and industrial material handling require equipment that balances manoeuvrability, operator safety, and cost efficiency in everyday operations. In this context, Fenwick-Linde has introduced a new series of reach trucks, Ri14–Ri18, designed for low- to medium-intensity applications in environments such as logistics centres, food processing, automotive, and chemical industries.
The new range complements the company’s existing portfolio of material handling equipment and targets operations requiring compact machines capable of operating efficiently in narrow aisles.
Reach trucks designed for narrow aisle warehouse operations
The Ri14–Ri18 models offer load capacities ranging from 1.4 to 1.8 tonnes and are built with an integrated lithium-ion battery, enabling a compact design suited for confined warehouse layouts. With a total length of 1,215 mm and an aisle width requirement of 2,709 mm, the trucks are configured to optimise storage density while maintaining manoeuvrability.
Mast heights of up to 11 metres allow use in high-bay storage systems, while two mast variants are available to balance residual load capacity and visibility. The integrated control system enables precise handling of mast functions, supporting accurate load positioning during storage and retrieval operations.
Optional performance features such as PowerDrive and PowerLift increase travel speed by up to 18% and lifting speed by up to 16%, addressing productivity requirements in multi-shift operations.
Safety systems for controlled material handling
The series integrates a set of safety features aimed at protecting operators, goods, and warehouse infrastructure. Hydraulic braking on load wheels is provided as standard, ensuring consistent stopping performance regardless of load weight or mast position.
Additional systems include Curve Assist, which automatically adjusts speed in corners based on steering angle to improve stability. The elevated seating position enhances operator visibility of both load and surroundings.
Optional safety features include overhead protective glass, shoulder protection, and assistance systems such as Safety Guard for collision warnings and a rack detection system designed to prevent damage to storage infrastructure during handling operations.
Ergonomic design for operator comfort
The operator compartment is fully decoupled from the chassis to reduce the transmission of shocks and vibrations, contributing to reduced operator fatigue during extended shifts. This is combined with a suspended seat and adjustable controls, including steering wheel, seat, and optional height-adjustable floor, allowing adaptation to different operators.
A low, wide step with anti-slip surface facilitates frequent entry and exit, while integrated storage compartments support daily operational needs.
Maintenance and digital integration
The Ri series is designed to reduce maintenance time through simplified access to key components such as the drive wheel and electrical systems. The modular electrical architecture enables remote software updates and the integration of the trucks into warehouse management or operational IT systems.
The standard 14.3 kWh lithium-ion battery supports energy-efficient operation, with an optional 21.4 kWh version available for higher performance requirements. An additional battery option allows continuous operation in 24/7 environments by minimising downtime during charging cycles.
Positioning within standard warehouse equipment
The Ri14–Ri18 series addresses the growing demand for compact, cost-efficient reach trucks suited to single- and double-shift warehouse operations. By combining lithium-ion technology, optional performance enhancements, and integrated safety systems, the range provides a structured solution for material handling tasks such as goods transport, storage, and retrieval in both bulk storage and racking systems.
